About Me

My name is Julie, I was born in England and moved to America a few years ago. I now live in Texas with my husband. All my life I have appreciated nature with the organic and true beauty it holds.

I always enjoyed both taking and sharing photographs of our much-loved dog Charlie and the beautiful world around me. Early in 2019, I started an Instagram page dedicated to Charlie and for many years I have taken great pleasure sharing photos of Charlie, raising the spirits of family and friends, even those that have not met him 'in person. Charlie was a huge inspiration to me, as he overcame everything that comes in his path.
In hindsight, I believe that my love of photography was the first tentative step in my journey towards being an artist and I consider my painting to be part of taking my artistic expression to the next level.

With the ever-increasing challenges in life, I recently chose to find the time and energy to explore new hobbies. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks, to my friend Louise who shared her discovery of the joy of painting online and introduced me to Elle Smith Art. During 2020 I watched some of Elle's many Facebook Live tutorials. As they were set in the UK, they helped me to maintain a vital connection to home when travel was impossible and watching her painting process encouraged me to try myself. Both of these amazing women inspired me to give it a go, and I am so very grateful.

As soon as I started, put the brush to paper and began to explore the art of watercolour painting, I realised that I was finding something very special, a previously unknown and very much hidden and unused talent. Painting has helped me escape both from the crazy world surrounding me and from the limitations my health places on me.

Painting has quickly grown beyond being just a hobby and a tool of distraction to became a true passion. Painting gives me an outlet, a distraction and a way to escape from the stresses of everyday life. It is very much therapeutic for me and allows me some inner peace and much-needed serenity. And so My Art By Julie was created...
